PEEPS - Peers educators engaging peers
Peer Educators Engaging Peers (PEEPS) is 2 day training and leadership program for young people aged 16+.
The program aims to build the capacity and confidence of young people to become peer leaders to deliver information, referral and support to other young people regarding issues of sexual health.
After the 2 training days PEEPs will have the opportunity to:
The program aims to build the capacity and confidence of young people to become peer leaders to deliver information, referral and support to other young people regarding issues of sexual health.
After the 2 training days PEEPs will have the opportunity to:
- lead, assist or observe the facilitation of key program areas of the PASH Conference COFFS | LISMORE
- identify themselves as mentor figures in their local school or community for young people needing support in the areas they are trained in.
- fulfil their role in health promotion in a variety of settings including well-being days at high schools, youth events/festivals such as Crankfest and Splendour in the Grass and Falls Festival.

Through the PEEPS program participants will be encouraged to explore their own values regarding sex, sexuality and health, as well as build upon their own particular areas of interest in the area of sexual health.

Program
Facilitation Skills Training- Participants will learn the basic principles of group facilitation and have the opportunity to practice these skills both during the training and through delivering sessions during the conference.
Sexual Health 101- Participants will gain a holistic understanding of both the risk and protective factors in relation to sexual health and learn strategies to promote healthy sexuality in innovative ways amongst their peers and in their communities.
Ins and Outs- PEEPs will build their knowledge of the spectrums of gender and sexuality and explore the ways in which sexual and gender identities impact on health.
Consent- PEEPS will learn the issues surrounding consent and discuss both the legalities and ethics associated with this not always straight forward topic.
Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence - Response, Support and Prevention.
